Walking around the quaint Bear Lake was a simple jaunt without exerting much energy. It was a popular place and well travelled. Wildlife was abundant all around and this is where a ground squirrel very familiar with people called home. Sitting atop a rock on the water's edge, this ground squirrel was much larger than the others. We watched her from fairly close and expected her to run away at any second. She allowed me to take a couple of photos with show of concern. Just then a young brother and sister came around the corner with their parents and saw what we were looking at. They ran over to her, climbed up on the rock and started petting her. They dug out some food and she happily took it from them. We were a bit shocked, but she was a regular there and realized she didn't have to go anywhere for food. She preferred delivery.
