Out of the Darkness

Out of the Darkness is a bright eyed tiger coming from the shadows of the night. As the faint moonlight hits the mighty cat the muted colors materialize. While the left side is more subdued and monochromatic, the eyes catch the light and glisten brightly in the shadows.

The original piece is colored pencil on black mattboard. It was created for an undertaking for one of my art clubs. We were experimenting with colored pencils. I wanted to sketch the outlines late one evening in preparation for the meeting and dozed off before I finished. That, however, did not stop me as I continued to work in my sleep. When I awoke much of the base white layer was revealed and the picture was very much underway.
